Ntombozi Mbelebele

 Ntombomzi received her Bachelor of Journalism degree in  2004 at Rhodes University. She specialised in Radio. In 2005 she started working for the Home Channel in 2005 and then Rhodes University's Journalism Department. She then worked for the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa. She was awarded a a full scholarship by the Reserve Bank in November 2009. Her area of interest is how the public understands the economics news.

Romi has a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Political and International Studies from Rhodes University, and her other majors were Economics and French. After a semester exchange at the Sciences Politiques d'Aix-en-Provence in France, she returned to take up the Reserve Bank scholarship in 2011. Her interests include social justice, the economics of the poor, immigration, participative democracy and their relationship with a social responsibility theory of journalism.

Michelle received her Bachelor of Journalism at the Rhodes University School of Journalism and Media Studies in 2009, having specialised in television journalism. She then worked for a year at the Daily Dispatch newspaper in East London as a consumer journalist, and was awarded a full scholarship by the Reserve Bank in November 2010.

Ian Mcleod

Ian received his Bachelor of Business Science from the University of Cape Town in 2008. He then stumbled into the world of freelance writing, quickly progressing to contributing feature stories to SA Sports Illustrated and Prestige magazine. Ian accepted a place in the PGDip in Journalism at Rhodes University in 2011 with the aim of widening the scope of his writing to include economic journalism. Remaining a sports nut at heart, he can be heard bellowing, “I am a pugilist specialist!” in the dead of night after waking up for a title fight on TV.

 

Lauren Davidson

Lauren received her Bachelor of Commerce in 2009 and thereafter did her Honours in Economics at Rhodes University, with her specific interests lying in developmental economics. She interned at Ned Capital during her varsity holidays. After she completed her honours in economics she was awarded a full scholarship from the South African Reserve Bank to do a post graduate diploma in Journalism. Her other interests are horse riding, sailing and writing.

Jessica Taylor

Jessica received her Bachelor of Business Administration through UNISA in 2008, having specialised in Business Management and Communication Science. She then worked for two years at apurimac media, a digital media and marketing company in Cape Town. She started as an intern, became an operations executive, followed by her promotion to a campaign manager. She was awarded a full scholarship by the Reserve Bank in November 2010 to pursue her interest in writing and editing.
